Best Eco-Wood Responsibility

Responsibility

Eco-friendly wood comes from forests that are selectively culled to preserve their integrity. In many ways, worldwide forests now provide as much valuable shelter to us, collectively when left standing as when cut to build our individual homes. After all, forests breathe. Big old-growth trees, whether in temperate or tropical forests, provide our hedge against global warming by absorbing and storing carbon dioxide, the principal greenhouse gas, and pumping oxygen into Earth’s atmosphere. As the planet’s biodiversity diminishes at an alarming rate, policy makers, and even loggers, increasingly accept that selective cutting is preferable to clear-cutting.

Our commitment to stewardship, defined in our corporate environmental policy, affects everything we do: from our work in the forest to the manufacturing and delivery of our products. The forest products sector is evolving, It’s incorporating new processes, the latest technology, and innovations to one of the world’s leading building materials. Wood products are natural, renewable, recyclable, and environmentally sustainable. It’s the perfect choice for sustainably-minded consumers.

We are expanding our operations and unlocking new possibilities from wood fibre in areas such as engineered wood products, bio energy, and other bio products. As we grow, we’re still mindful of sustainably managed forest lands. We are continually improving our manufacturing process, recovery, recycle focusing on the high utilization of every piece of wood .

Environment

Sustainably managing our forests is more than planting trees. Our commitment to the environment is a promise to use our resources responsibly and to take ongoing steps to reduce our environmental impact.

We harvest a renewable resource in an environmentally responsible manner and through forest management. We aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, chemicals, monitor energy, material consumption , recycle oil products and other materials. Enhancing research ability and work with experts to find better ways to manage the forest for wildlife habitat and different forest values. Our manufacturing plants have superior systems in place to treat and filter water and air discharges from our facilities, but we are always improving.

Social Responsibility

We take our dedication to sustainable forest operations, safe working environments, and efficient, performance-based manufacturing processes very seriously. We also understand operations of our size and scope come with significant responsibilities.

Our actions of yesterday, today, and tomorrow will provide benefits to future generations. Healthy forests can provide wood for shelter, panel products,  green, sustainable energy. They also offer work opportunities and community support to the towns and regions where our employees live and work.

We continue to explore ways of balancing environmental, social, and economic values in the regions where we operate. At Best Ply, we are proud of our achievements and our responses to new challenges and opportunities.

Manufacturing

We Best Ply uses maximum of log from planted forest. They’re turned into a wood product, panel, pulp, paper, and other products or used in a bio energy system. We aim to get the best value from every log entering one of our operations. The aim is to achieve the maximum recovery from every tree coming into our mills.

Virtually every part of a log will find use within our operations:

  • Sawdust and shavings are used in our medium density fibreboard (MDF) plants or are transformed into fuel and energy to run the mill.
  • Wood chips and the wood cores from our plywood and veneer operations are used in our pulping operations.
  • Even the heat, steam, and gases that develop during our manufacturing processes can be captured to provide energy to our mills.

We are reducing waste and the materials that may previously have been sent to landfills. Our work includes innovating our production process and increasing our recycling. Also, we are using more of the wood residuals created during the manufacturing of our lumber, panels, and wood products.

Air & GHGs

We all want to breathe clean air.

We are upgrading our operations with technology that improves the air quality coming from our operations. It also significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Our achievements are a result of focused efforts to upgrade to more energy-efficient technologies and better utilization of resources like heat, steam, and other energy created during the manufacturing process. The energy is re-routed for use in other areas of the production process and dramatically reduces the overall energy consumption of our operations. The Company is also using more wood residuals such as sawdust, bark, and other by-products of production (called “biomass”) to produce energy and is building a significant portfolio of these bio-energy projects.

Our operations use technologies to ensure the emissions from our sites are well within environmental standards. It includes filters, scrubbers, and electrostatic precipitators (ESPs). They remove particulates before releasing air into the atmosphere.

Water

Water is an important – and protected – resource in our operations. Maximum of our used water  , filtered further  to use in our other operations & again  goes back to the environment where it came from.

We specifically address, manage, and monitor stream and watercourse protection as part of our sustainable forest management activities. We operate under strict regulations regarding water or watercourses on the lands where we harvest, which are enforced within our land-use planning.
